Due to the very bad weather forecast for Saturday 26th March the home leg against St Bees has been postponed.
The home leg of this match has now reverted to Saturday 9th April.
St Bees have been offered Saturday 7th May as an alternative to the original away fixture date.
Please watch the board in the Gents changing room for updates and confirmation of the away leg of the match.

Captains Christmas Message

Dear Club Members,

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for 2016.

My season as Captain has been thoroughly enjoyable, and the support that I have received from all the members has been fantastic and very much appreciated. The Captains fundraising from the members this year has exceeded my expectations, and I sincerely thank you all for your generosity and support.

Once again, Merry Christmas and best wishes and golfing success for 2016.

Ken Leece.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS COMPETITION.

A great day for the competition and everyone enjoyed themselves on the course, mixing the teams up always lends itself to a good laugh and good chat.
The winning team was made up of Helen Holmes, Phil Garner, John Steward and Doug Myers who if not happy about winning, soon would be after drinking their prize of 4 bottles of wine each 😉
But, the main reason for the day is to raise money for Breast Cancer research, and just over £1000 was raised from the day.
A massive thank you has to be given to Paul and Carol Hodgson for organising the competition and everyone who has helped them over the last 16 years, from which over £16k has been raised for a very worthwhile cause.

Captains Fundraising for 2015

Silecroft Golf Club Gents Captain, Mr Ken Leece, is raising money this year to install defibrillators at the golf club, all money raised will go towards the purchase of the outside cabinets for the defibrillator to be kept in, making them available to members at all times.
The defibrillator has been donated today by North West Ambulance Service, a big thanks to them for all their help.

A Message from the Club Captain, Mr Ken Leece.

As part of the Captain’s year in office, money is raised for a charity or for a specific purpose at the club. This year the Captain is raising money to obtain Defibrillators and the boxes to house them, outside of the clubhouse and at the furthest reaches of the course. He has been very lucky in that one defib unit has already been donated to the club by Lauren Watson of the North West Ambulance Service, with the promise of a second unit when the money has been raised for the boxes to house them. The first unit is at present held in the clubhouse, which is only open at weekends generally. This will be positioned eventually on an outside wall of the clubhouse, making it available to anyone in the vicinity, on the beach, caravan site etc. The club continues to raise money by raffles, football cards, organised events, and applying for grants or donations where ever possible. Any offers of help would be gratefully accepted. The Captain, Ken Leece, can be contacted on 01229 772162.

Coaching & Development 2015

The Club Development Group has continued with its coaching programme for the 2015 season.
Coaching sessions have been held each Saturday morning from the 18th April between 9am and 11am ( Adults 9 till 10, Juniors 10 till 11).

Paul Rawlinson, PGA Professional, led the sessions assisted by club coaches Keith Newton, Andrew Leece and Andrew Laisby. The weather  has been a little chilly and with a good Silecroft breeze blowing most of the time, but attendance has been good, with the majority of the coaching being completed on the Practice Ground, with the final session of the 5 week block seeing the players venture out on to the course for a couple of holes.

The next 5 week block of coaching, being led by Paul Rawlinson, will start from the 27th June.
There will be a Coaching Open day on the 20th June, where anyone interested can come along to find out more about the golf club and sign up for the coaching sessions.
